I Sacrificed My Child to Ra

Step upon my altar, bare your soul
as you beg for your last breath.
Long ago, I lost the desire to extol
in this languishing practice of death.
Counsel demands the subject be carried
up the stairs, surrounded by ominous souls.
Their bodies no longer married
to the eyes in the towering skulls.
The obsidian blade showed no hesitation
when it fell swiftly upon the chest cavity;
Sacrificed for divine exaltation,
we stand absent of depravity.
The rose water trickles as I offer
your autonomy sunward;
Darkness subsides in my proffer,
devout we stand in our word.
The marred are discarded, flung
down the great flight.
All praises are sung,
as we witness the consultation of light.
Shredded and mangled,
my heart fawns for you, my progeny.
How could I allow you to be tangled
in gruesome displays of frivolity?
